BENEFITS OF PILATES.

What are the Benefits of Pilates Exercise?

  • Increased strength, muscle tone, energy and flexibility
  • Reduced risk of injury and osteopathic problems
  • Enhanced alignment, coordination and balance
  • Improved core strength for pain free movement

Pilates can be a physically active form of meditation.  With the deep breathing and the complete focus required to perform each exercise correctly, it is easy to fall into a Zen-like peace.  Our clients tell us they leave in better moods, mentally rested, and more energetic than when they arrived.  Overall, it is an uplifting experience.

Most of our clients feel it improves their overall shape and some say it has made them appear taller.  The strengthening doesn't seem to cause bulking muscles as weight lifting can, it builds more of a sleek, taut dancers body.

We are committed to helping our clients achieve improved health through our program. We strive for short-term rewards and long-term benefits for those committed to the Pilates method.

What is Pilates?

An incredibly gentle yet effective form of exercise that stretches and strengthens muscles.  Pilates is done barefoot on a variety of equipment or simply on a mat.  While it is gentle in that it does not stress the body, it can be a vigorous workout.  Pilates involves the whole body more than a typical gym or aerobic workout.  Breathing is an important part of Pilates.

Who is Pilates Exercise for?

Pilates is for everyone: all ages, physical abilities and fitness levels.  We offer individualized programs for those new to fitness as well as challenging workouts for competitive athletes.  These gentle movements are also perfectly suited for pregnant and post-partum women.    Professional athletes, actresses, octogenarians, men and women of all ages and physical backgrounds are active pilates devotees.

Pilates also suits an aging population because, without stressing joints, it enhances circulation, flexibility, and builds muscle mass which fights osteoporosis.  Pilates also is effective in eliminating backaches, neck aches, slumped shoulders, potbellies, and helps to heal torn ligaments.
